demonstration at Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar, Capital of Odisha
demanding CBI Inquiry
into fraud Baba Sarathi episode ,
immediate arrest of Satish Gajabhie,
former SP of Kendrapara district and unconditional release of woman Activist
Mamata Samantaray from Jail.
Human Rights Activists and Social Action Groups staged
demonstration at Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar, Capital of Odisha
demanding CBI Inquiry
into fraud Baba Sarathi episode ,
immediate arrest of Satish Gajabhie,
former SP of Kendrapara district and unconditional release of woman Activist
Mamata Samantaray from Jail.
The Activists alleged that
many powerful people, politicians of Biju Janata Dal and top bureaucrats are
associated with controversial Baba Sarathi and
have played crucial role in his
rise as Pravu Baba ( God man) in
Kendrapara district. Due to political backing
and administrative support, Baba Sarathi has amassed huge wealth by cheating
the innocent people and collecting huge
money of donations. Massive public
outrage erupted across the state after
expose of Baba’s immoral conduct
and association with a girl which is under investigation. When the administration
remained silence without taking any action against Baba, the Common people came
to the street and protested and demanded action against Baba Sarathi by
organising Dharana, rally etc.
Interestingly, without taking any action against Baba, the police
resorted lathi charge to disperse the people and mercilessly beaten up the
common people. The police excesses on the people protesting against
controversial spiritual Guru crossed all the limits. The police followed
colonial ruthless behaviour
and made many protesters including a lawyer kneel down
and kept many naked under
guidance of SP Satish Gajbhae.

The Civil Society Groups
apprehended that as the powerful people
are involved in this case,
the Crime Branch can not undertake independent and impartial enquiry into this matter. So, CBI enquiry is the best
and viable option for an impartial probe.
They have also demanded immediate arrest of SP Satish Jagbhae for
masterminding police atrocity on innocent people.
