Bangeya Krorarapati” , a popular programme of S TV , Sri Achyut Samant,
founder of KISS ( Kalinga Institute of Social Science ) , Bhubaneswar, Odisha
said to Amitav Bachan that “ KIIT shares 5% of
its profit for KISS and KIIT Staff give
3% of the salary for 30,000 students of
KISS . KISS requires a recurring expenditure
of Rs. 100 crore.” This
is not first
time that Sri Samant
shared this information in public platform. He has
shared it in many
public functions.

filed a number of RTI Applications to KIIT
and KISS to get
all the information about details of land allotted to
both of the Institutions, no. of tribal
children studying in KISS , details of accommodation, boarding and food for
the children in KISS
Hostel , copy of
Annual Audit Report of KISS,
name of relatives
and family members of Ministers and IAS, IPS officers appointed
in KIIT and KISS etc. The
Authority of KIIT/ KISS has
denied to share
any information on the pretext that
they do not come
under RTI. Our legal battle to bring
these two institutions
within ambit of RTI is
continuing by us.

We dot
receive any fund from Govt. to run the school. |
KISS has been developed and managed
by public fund and relying on public fund . Edifice of this institutions stands on Govt. support ( funded by the public not from pocket of Achyut Samant. ( visit it https://odishasoochana.blogspot.com/2018/06/kiitkiss-developed-with-public-money.html ). KISS has received huge fund from Govt. to manage the tribal school and hostel. (a) It has acquired 32 acres of Govt land ( forest land ) on which KISS campus has been built up. ( 2) from 2007-08 to 2011-12, Achyut Samant has received Rs. 12 crores from Ministry of Tribal affairs for infrastructure development. Within period of 2017-18 and 2018-19, KISS has received financial assistance of Rs. 21.42 crore ( Rs. 6,54,27,492 for 2017-18 Rs. 14,87,27,436 for 2018-19) , highest in the country among the recipient NGOs. ( 4) Every year, KISS receives Rs. 5 crore as post matric scholarship from Govt. of Odisha for tribal children. The State Govt. has also been providing subsidised rice to KISS tribal School. On 16.9.2017. in an assembly query , Sri Chandra Sekhar Majhi, Hon’ble Minister for SC and ST Development has replied that the State Govt. has been providing 75 MT rice to 5000 children of KISS Tribal school in every month. We have filed
RTI application to the authority of KISS to supply information about details of tribal children and their no. in each batch studying in KISS tribal school. The Authority denied to provide information. Then , RTI Application was filed to SC and ST Department , Collector, Khurda to provide the said information. The PIOs responded that such information is not available. Then, RTI Application was filed to Dept. of School and Mass Education, Govt. of Odisha after a long fight, PIO, office of Block education Officer supplied the information It was found from the calculation given by BEO that only 18,000 children are reading in KISS Tribal school(https://odishasoochana.blogspot.com/2018/01/figure-of-25000-tribal-children.html)., https://odishasoochana.blogspot.com/2018/02/number-of-students-reading-in-kiss.html |

KISS Hostel is
effectively managed adhering laws for protection of rights of the children. |
This is false. KISS does not allow inspecting authority
to inspect the hostels from time to time. However, after our complaint filed, Child welfare Committee, Khurda had visited KISS to gather information about situation of tribal children in the hostel. in the mind of people. To brining
this institution dealing life,
livelihood and career of
thousands of tribal children must come
